I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with DALL-E 2, the AI art generator. In case you’re not familiar, here’s the quick description from the website: “DALL·E 2 is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language.” You give it a description, it gives you “art.”
DALL-E 2’s creations can be pretty amazing, and it’s great fun coming up with outlandish ideas and then seeing how the AI interprets your vision.
After spending time “creating” brilliantly-colored pop-art images of unicorns charging through cities, cats being treated like royalty, and a failed attempt at a rose bush that grows bats instead of flowers (I have bats on the brain this week), I had to see what the AI might come up with for jewelry design.
Rather than try to “design” a piece with words, I decided to let the AI share its own, personal aesthetic. I gave it the description, “The most beautiful piece of jewelry ever created.” For each description, DALL-E 2 generates four images. Without further ado, here they are.
So there you have it. If nothing else, DALL-E and I share a fondness for bling and pearls.
While I am fascinated by the design challenges posed here, I think I’ll stick to using my own ideas.
Want handmade jewelry designed and created by a human? You’re in the right place!
